In this unprecedented time, we will be listing and linking to resources that can help our members around the state.

8/24/21: Ohio’s Emergency Rental Assistance Directory

Our friends at COHHIO have created a frequently updated Emergency Rental Assistance directory for Ohio. County by county, it tells you what you need to do to access rental assistance for those impacted by COVID.

1/25/21: Ohio CDFIs Supporting PPP Round 2

The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is back and with better terms for small businesses. If your nonprofit or the small businesses in your community haven't applied for a PPP loan, you could consider using a CDFI.

Three CDFIs in Ohio are offering PPP loans: IFF, ECDI, and LISC. These CDFIs may still be setting up their systems for this round of PPP, so please be patient, but look into them for your organization and small businesses.

This is information from 2020 CARES Act Funding for the state of Ohio.

Resources for Families, Businesses, and Nonprofits for Pandemic Relief - First Come, First Serve

Low-income families, small businesses, bars and restaurants, and nonprofits hit hard financially by the coronavirus will be getting $429.5 million in federal relief, the DeWine administration announced.

Rental/Mortgage/Sewer/Water Support - Home Relief Grants ($50 million)

Update, 12/1/20: The Ohio Development Services Agency just recently made an additional $55.8 million in rental assistance available through the state's CDBG II and III allocations. This new rental assistance funding will also be distributed through community action agencies.

The Ohio Development Services Agency (ODSA) will direct funding to local community action agencies to distribute to eligible tenants and homeowners through an application process. Assistance can be applied to outstanding rent, mortgage, water, and/or sewer bills back to Apr. 1 and until the program ends on Dec. 30, 2020. Eligibility is limited to residents at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Community Action Agencies will start accepting applications for assistance on Nov. 2. Ohioans seeking assistance should contact their local Community Action Agency.

Small Business Support ($125 million)

The DeWine administration announced a $125 million grant program to help small businesses that have been harmed by the effects of COVID-19. The grants will provide $10,000 to small businesses in Ohio with no more than 25 employees. The program will be administered by ODSA.

Eligible businesses that are approved to receive grants can use the money for a variety of expenses, including mortgage or rent payments; utility payments; salaries, wages, or compensation for employees and contractors; business supplies or equipment; and other costs.

To ensure the grants are spread throughout the state, $500,000 will be set aside for businesses in each of Ohio's 88 counties. As businesses in each county are approved for funding, the $10,000 grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. When a county's allocation is depleted, businesses in that county will be eligible to receive grants from the remaining funds in the overall grant program. If businesses in a county do not deplete the county's allocation within 21 days after the application period opens, the remaining funds will become available to businesses statewide.

Bar and Restaurant Assistance Fund ($38.7 million)

The state of Ohio has created a $38.7 million fund to help bars and restaurants that have been hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund will provide $2,500 grants to eligible liquor permit holders in Ohio. The application for the Bar and Restaurant Assistance Fund will be available at businesshelp.ohio.gov starting November 2.

Businesses applying for funding will be required to establish a registration ID with the state of Ohio. Permit holders may apply for the liquor assistance funding as well as the Small Business Relief Grant.

Non Profit Support ($25 million)

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) is operating a $25 million CARES Act aid program for nonprofit organizations that serve low-income and at-risk Ohioans. Any grants awarded may be applied to remaining unemployment charge balances and/or can serve as a refund of such charges incurred due to COVID-19. If taken as a refund, the grants may be applied toward operational expenses. The deadline to apply was Friday, Nov. 27.
